5 Tips For Losing Weight After Pregnancy

Being a mother is a dream come true for many women. However, pregnancy also means that you end up packing a lot of excess weight on your tummy. And if you don’t take appropriate action after delivery, the extra weight can remain for too long and make you look visually unappealing. For new mothers who are looking to get back in shape, the following tips will definitely prove useful.

Don’t Diet Right Away

Remember to never start dieting soon after pregnancy. Yes, you will have a bigger belly. But this does not mean that you begin down on food intake right away. Keep in mind that you have just undergone a delivery. As such, any shortage of food and nutrition can be counterproductive, and might even result in medical complications. It is recommended that you stay away from dieting programs at least for the first six weeks post pregnancy.

Try HCG Diet

Once the six weeks are up, consult your doctor to see whether your body has recovered well enough and ready for a diet. If the doctor permits, then you can start with a diet plan. And one of the best diet programs that can help you easily cut back on the excess weight is the HCG plan. Numerous women have experienced startling weight loss after trying HCG post pregnancy. As such, it is recommended that you research about the program and implement it in case you find it suitable.

Sleep Well

One thing that might be quite a challenge for you after becoming a mum is to get a good night’s sleep. Babies can start crying right in the middle of the night, and you will have to break away from your sleep midway to take care of them. And when this process continues for several days, you will essentially feel sleep deprived and tired which can increase your cortisol levels and stop you from losing weight. In fact, new mothers who couldn’t sleep for more than five hours straight were seen to have a tougher time getting rid of the excess weight they gained during pregnancy.

Breastfeed Your Child

Breastfeeding your child can also a good way to reduce weight. New moms who breastfed their children were seen to burn up more calories than those who didn’t. However, this is unfortunately not applicable to all women. But if you think that breastfeeding does help you in burning calories, then by all means, stick to it.

Never Skip Water

Make sure that you do drink sufficient quantities of water every day. Try to consume at least eight glasses of water daily, and this should be good enough to keep your body from being dehydrated. In addition, drinking water can also make your stomach feel fuller, thereby discouraging any tendency of overeating. Plus, having optimum levels of water can also speed up the metabolism rate of your body, ensuring that the food you consume is properly digested. The best way to check if you are consuming the recommended quantities of water is to look at the color of urine. If it is clear, then it is a sign that you are consuming water as expected.
